LIVE WEBINAR OCT 20: A Deep Dive into the Newest Federal Guidance for Educating Students with Disabilities

Live Webinar October 20 at 11 AM EST. A Deep dive into the newest federal guidance for educating students with disabilities: What educators, parents, and advocates need to know about critical issues facing schools 18 months into the COVID-19 pandemic

On September 30, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education released extensive guidance, entitled Return to School Roadmap: Development and Implementing of Individualized Education Programs in the Least Restrictive Environment under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

In this webinar, Wendy Tucker, CLE’s Senior Director of Policy, will discuss what the guidance says about critical issues facing schools 18 months into the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics include:

  • Barriers to obtaining a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for students with increased health risks due to COVID-19
  • The necessity of meeting the social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of students with disabilities
  • Compensatory services in the wake of the pandemic
